Around 22:20 on October 28, a cargo ship belonging to Yichang Honghai Shipping Co., Ltd. capsized about 200 meters north of the Yichang Changjiang Highway Bridge in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Of the 8 crew members, 6 are missing and 2 survived and were rescued.

The Yichang section of the Yangtze River has entered the main flood season. The Yichang Maritime Safety Administration has activated its flood control plan, and various patrol and rescue bases have increased patrols and day-and-night monitoring to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Three Gorges.
